Ondo State New Head of Service Pledges Commitment to Public Service Reform
Ondo State Head of Service, Pastor Kayode Ogundele has affirmed his determination to continually interact with the State Public Service Improvement (ODSIP) Change Ambassadors with a view to actualising the objectives of meeting the challenges of modern day public service as well as enhance delivery of quality service to the people of the state. Pastor Ogundele, who made this known during his maiden interactive meeting with the Ambassadors, described them as major stakeholders in the running of activities in their various Ministries, Department and Agencies (MDAs) expected to effect the desired transformation and betterment of the entire Public Service.
While acknowledging the myriad of positive impact the activities of the Ambassadors had on the State Public Service right from their inauguration, he charged them to redouble their efforts to accomplish the task given to them through propagation of the tenets of ODSIP. The Head of Service, who reminded them of the enormous responsibilities place on them as Agents of change, also enjoined them to develop themselves in all facets of their work schedule especially in the areas of leadership skills, Communication skills, information and communication technology (ICT) for the purpose of efficient service delivery, adding that they should always replicate the knowledge gained during the training session of the quarterly interactive meetings to other Officers in their various MDAs.
In his welcome address, the Administrative Secretary of the Department of Public Service Reform and Development, Mr Adewale Omomowo noted that the quarterly interactive meeting is a forum to appraise the activities of the Ambassadors and the Reform Coordinators with a view to identifying and proffering solution to some challenges in order to achieve a well-functioning government in all sectors and at all levels. Mr Omomowo highlighted some strategies and tools employed by his Department in driving the reform of the public service to include among others, appointment of Change Ambassadorship, publication of Newsletter, feedback mechanism and digitization of human resource management. He congratulated Pastor Ogundele on his appointment and elevation to the position of Head of Service which he described as testimonies of his track record of resourcefulness, dedication and diligence to duty.
As part of the activities for the session, the Special Adviser to the State Governor on Security Matters and Core-Commandant of Amotekun Security Network, Akogun Adetunji Adeleye delivered lecture on INSECURITY: focusing on Environmental Consciousness, Challenges and Solutions while the Permanent Secretary and Director General of Public Service Training Institute, Mr Jide Ekpobomini gave another lecture on Determinants of Job Performance and Job Satisfaction for Effective Service Delivery.
The meeting was attended by the Permanent Secretaries of the Department of Establishment and Training, Mrs Olufunke Dare-Atunse; Pension Transitional Department, Chief Dele Akinmoye and the Department of Service Matters, Mr Jimmy Afolabi.
